A powerful beam of light projects the sound of Longplayer, a 1000-year long musical composition that echos around London's only lighthouse, across the River Thames for Artangel's Sonic Ray.

The sound of Longplayer is encoded into an earie green laser and transmitted at the speed of light from the Faraday Lighthouse on Trinity Buoy Wharf, across the Thames to Richard Wilson’s nautical sculpture Slice of Reality, on Greenwich Peninsula's foreshore. A new temporary listening post lies aboard the divided ship and a short ferry ride connects the two locations, turning the sound of Longplayer into a bridge of light across the Thames.

Enter our competition to be in with a chance of winning a family ticket to a Sonic Ray viewing session, plus River Roamer tickets so you and your family can sail to and from Sonic Ray via North Greenwich Pier!

Terms and conditions
  • Competition closes at 23.59 on Thursday 11 November 2021
  • On Friday 12 November, one winner will be selected at random to win a Family Ticket (valid for two adults and up to three children) to Sonic Ray
  • The winner must reply by Monday 15 November; otherwise Uber Boat by Thames Clippers reserves the right to offer the prize to an alternative winner
  • Winner's details will be shared with Artangel in order to award the prize
  • The winner will also receive a Family River Roamer ticket valid for two adults and up to three children to make unlimited use of Uber Boat by Thames Clippers services for one day
  • Prize is not transferable to another individual and not exchangeable for cash
