STCW Elementary First Aid is a mandatory element of STCW Basic Safety Training, meeting the requirements of STCW Regulation A-VI/1. This one-day course gives delegates the practical skills to respond effectively to medical emergencies onboard commercial vessels.

Delivered by MCA-accredited instructors, this course is Thames CPD approved and counts as 30 CPD points.

Does the certificate expire?

No. However, delegates requiring Thames CPD compliance must complete refresher training every five years.

Do I need to bring anything?

Photographic ID (Passport, UK Driving Licence, or other official photographic identification). Comfortable clothing is recommended for practical exercises.

Do I need previous experience?

No prior experience is required.

Is lunch provided?

No, lunch is not included.

What happens if I fail the assessment?

The course will need to be retaken.

Booking and Cancellation Policy

1. Course Bookings
All course bookings are made through the Uber Boat by Thames Clippers website. A booking is confirmed once full payment has been received and a confirmation email has been issued. Course fees are payable in full at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed in writing.

2. Provider Cancellation
Uber Boat by Thames Clippers reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any course due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to:

  • Insufficient enrolment
  • Instructor unavailability
  • Operational requirements
  • Health and safety considerations

Where a course is cancelled by the provider, delegates will be offered either:

  • A full refund, or
  • The option to transfer to an alternative available course date

The company accepts no liability for any additional costs incurred by delegates.

2. Delegate Cancellation
If a delegate needs to cancel a booking, notice must be provided in writing via email to:  fleettraining@thamesclippers.com:

Cancellation fees apply as follows:

3–10 working days before 25% of course fee
2 working days before 50% of course fee
On the day / no-show 100% of course fee

Cancellation fees paid may be credited toward a future booking (within the same academic year) at the business's discretion.

4. Attendance Requirements
Delegates must:

  • Arrive on time as stated on booking confirmation.
  • Any late attendees may be refused entry.
  • Attend the full duration of the course as stated on booking confirmation

  • Present valid photographic identification at the start of the course.

Failure to meet attendance requirements may result in refusal of certification.

5. Course Timings
Published start and finish times are provided as guidance only. Finish times may vary depending on delivery requirements, class size, and delegate progress.

6. Fitness
to Participate Courses include practical activities (including CPR performed on the floor). Delegates must be physically capable of participation. Relevant medical conditions should be disclosed in advance.

7. Conduct
Uber Boat by Thames Clippers reserves the right to remove any delegate whose behaviour is disruptive, unsafe, or inappropriate. In such cases, no refund will be issued.

8. Certification
Certification will only be issued to delegates who:

  • Attend the full course
  • Successfully meet the required assessment standard

9. Personal Property
The company accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal property brought to the training venue.
