Tall Ships Festival – September 2014
This fantastic five day free festival took over great swathes of the River Thames and the beautiful and historic borough of Royal Greenwich between Friday 5th and Tuesday 9th of September. More than 50 impressive tall ships graced the festival sites in Maritime Greenwich, Royal Arsenal Woolwich, the Greenwich Peninsula, and West India Dock in Canary Wharf.
It was the largest fleet of tall ships in London for 25 years with huge firework displays wowing night time festival-goers.
The Royal Borough of Greenwich asked MBNA Thames Clippers to provide two bespoke services over the Tall Ships Festival as well as additional services for their crews. A Circle Service between Greenwich, Victoria Deep Water and Royal Arsenal Woolwich ran every 20 minutes to enable visitors to see the Tall Ships up close and visit the different festival sites. A Greenwich Shuttle ran every 15 minutes letting visitors board the largest Tall Ship the Dar Mlodziezy, moored close to Enderby Wharf.
Each night of the festival saw fireworks, MBNA Thames Clippers put on additional services from Royal Arsenal Woolwich to get visitors back into town and help them avoid the queues for the DLR.
Additional Support for Organisers
We were able to bring in floating pontoons to ensure access to the Tall Ships; all delivered with our extensive knowledge of the river.
We provided fast rib transfer so that organisers could quickly and easily move crews and volunteers between the various festival sites.
