LOVE MY SPRING COMMUTE
Having won the MBNA Thames Clippers #LoveMyCommute photo competition it’ll come as no surprise that one of my favourite things about commuting by boat is the views along the river. Spring has well and truly sprung now so I’ve said goodbye to the pretty twinkling lights of the Capital as I sail to and from work under dark skies, and start to see London bathed in sunshine and the evenings’ stunning sunset glow.
I think we all feel more energised in the mornings when it’s brighter and as I wander down to the pier to board the boat I’m looking forward to grabbing my usual cup of tea from the on-board barista and rather reading emails on my phone, I head outside onto the back deck and take in the views (and some vitamin D).
There’s nothing quite like sailing under London’s bridges at sunset (often with a glass of bubbly in-hand on a Friday evening). With the riverside trees in full bloom, I try to meet up with friends and enjoy the many pop-up events on the South Bank. It great how much more we pack into the longer days isn’t it?!
I always hear my friends say I’ve often thought about taking the boat, and I tell them. ‘Don’t wait for a special occasion, just do it!”
