MBNA Thames Clippers Announce Busiest Weekend On Record
September 5th – 8th 2014 saw the first Tall Ships Festival on the River Thames for 25 years. MBNA Thames Clippers worked with the Royal Borough of Greenwich to run additional services to reach the ships, including a Circle Service between Greenwich, Greenwich Peninsula and Royal Arsenal Woolwich. We also ran additional services on the main RB1 route to try and get passengers to where they needed to be as soon as possible. We used every resource at our disposal during the festival, using all of our available vessels and customer service teams to bring passengers the best possible service.
On Saturday the 6th of September we had our busiest ever day, carrying 15% more passengers than we did at the peak of the London 2012 Olympics.
Some passengers did encounter waiting times for our services during the Tall Ships festival. Given its unique nature the popularity of the event reached unprecedented levels as demand outweighed capacities for some of the services available. For those who did encounter delays we're sorry for the waiting times and any inconvenience caused.
We would like to thank all of the passengers that travelled with us across the festival and hope that you all enjoyed watching the Tall Ships. We hope to see you on board again soon.
