Docklands Explorer walk

In association with the rapid 'Thames Clippers' riverboat service, Green City Walks are pleased to offer this weekly walk every Friday afternoon. The walk entitled 'Brave New World: the Docklands Explorer' traces a route across the redeveloped old London Dock complex which was originally developed in the early 1800's by the great engineer/architects: John Rennie, Daniel Asher Alexander, and Thomas Telford. The route includes the beautiful St. Katherine's Dock, and the network of London Docks in Wapping and Shadwell, followed by the Regent's Canal Dock at Limehouse.

The many highlights include the Tobacco Dock warehouse, the beautiful spire of St. Paul's in Shadwell, the seaman's landmark tower of St. Anne's in Limehouse, and some of London's historic riverside inns including the 'Prospect of Whitby' and the 'Grapes'. The whole route is traffic free! It is amazingly peaceful, and follows ornamental canals, dock basins, and the riverside path. The walk finishes at Canary Wharf Pier, from where it is possible to return to the City or to Westminster via the rapid 'Thames Clippers' riverboat service.

This walk starts from the giant sundial above Tower Hill tube station every Friday afternoon at 1.30pm. The cost is £5 per person with proceeds to two charities: Cancer Research UK and Oxfam. There is no need to book; for further details please visit www.greencitywalks.com
