Attractions by Boat

Some of the most famous cultural, historical, educational and entertaining attractions in the world are situated on the River Thames. Below is a list of piers on our route as well as some of the attractions in each area. All attractions listed are either located on the riverbank itself or just a short walk from the pier.

Royal Arsenal Woolwich Pier

Charlton House

The ornate Jacobean house of a royal courtier was built between 1607 and 1612. Today its splendidly decorated rooms are available for weddings, conferences and private parties, and are home to a wide range of public events and community groups.

Eltham Palace

The medieval Great Hall of the palace where Henry VIII was educated is today attached to the Courtauld House. Built in the 1930s, it is one of the finest Art Deco houses in the country. It is surrounded by a delightful landscaped garden.

The Royal Arsenal Firepower & Greenwich Heritage Centre

For more than 300 years the Royal Arsenal was a walled, secret enclave where weapons of war were manufactured. It now houses Firepower The Royal Artillery Museum and the Greenwich Heritage Centre, the local museum and history library.

Woolwich Royal Arsenal gatehouse

Great historical centre dating back to Henry VIII. Info on the Vessel Henri Grace a Dieu, built at Woolwich Dockyard in October 1515.
