Celebrate The Queen's Platinum Jubilee at Battersea Power Station

2 June - 3 June

Head to Battersea Power Station for the ultimate Britannia-inspired Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration, featuring free activities including live performances, outdoor family-friendly games, screenings of celebrations from around the world and more. Battersea Power Station will be the first central London destination visited by the Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay on 2nd June following its arrival back into the UK after a remarkable trip across the Commonwealth. The London landmark will also be lighting a Jubilee Beacon at 9:45pm on 2nd June to honour the Queen’s service.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee at IWM London

27 May to 8 January

Throughout her 70-year reign and in the decades before, Her Majesty The Queen has lived through times of conflict, maintaining an enduring relationship with the armed forces and honouring those affected by war at home and across the world. Marking the Platinum Jubilee this spring, IWM London will present a rich programme that, for the first time in the museum’s history, explores the role of The Royal Family in conflict, tracing The Queen’s personal experience of war through poignant items, including rarely seen film and photography, in IWM’s collections.

Trooping the Colour

Thursday 2 June

Trooping the Colour, also known as the Sovereign's Birthday Parade, is the celebration of the Queen's official birthday, which usually takes place on the second Saturday in June but is slightly earlier this year to coincide with the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The streets are lined with crowds waving flags as The Queen takes her State Carriage from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guard's Parade. Over 200 horses and 1,200 soldiers take part in the parade. Other members of the Royal Family then join the Queen on Buckingham Palace's balcony to watch a fly-past by the Royal Air Force and a 41-gun salute is fired in Green Park.

Tickets are not required to view the procession but are required to access Horse Guard's Parade itself.

Platinum Party at the Palace

Saturday 4 June

The BBC will stage and broadcast a special live concert from the Victoria Memorial outside Buckingham Palace on Saturday 4 June. The concert will bring together some of the world’s biggest entertainment stars to celebrate The Queen’s seven-decade reign and promises to be a highlight of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The ballot for tickets is now open until 23:59 on 23 March 2022.

Platinum Jubilee Pageant

Sunday 5 June

Taking place around Westminster, The Platinum Pageant will tell the story of The Queen’s 70-year reign in three acts. Artists from around the UK and Commonwealth will come together to interpret different chapters of the last 70 years in a spectacular unfolding ceremony story filled with wonder, warmth and wit.

Tree of Trees

Thursday 2 June

A spectacular 21-metre “Tree of Trees” sculpture featuring 350 British native trees will be created outside Buckingham Palace as a centrepiece of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend.

The sculpture reflects the joyful Jubilee tree planting which has swept the nation as part of  The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC), inspiring over a million trees to be planted. The sculpture seeks to put the importance of trees and nature at the heart of this historic milestone to celebrate Her Majesty, who has planted over 1,500 trees all over the world throughout the course of her 70-year reign.

Visit Westminster Abbey

Open daily

Officially Westminster Abbey isn't a cathedral, it is one of few churches that takes the title of 'Royal Peculiar' and is solely within the sovereign's jurisdiction.

Westminster Abbey is where Kings and Queens are coronated and every English, then British, coronation has taken place at the Abbey since William the Conqueror's coronation in 1066.  The Abbey is open for tours most days and will host a number of special services to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

State Rooms open daily 22 July - 2 October | Queen's Gallery open every day 

During the summer months, when The Queen is not residing at the palace, Buckingham Palace's State Rooms are open to the public. Visitors can see the Throne Room, Ballroom, Palace Gardens and many more of the working palace's 775 rooms.

Buckingham Palace is home to many priceless, historic and influential pieces of art from the Royal Collection too. The Queen's Gallery, which is beside the palace itself, hosts exhibitions from the Royal Collection throughout the year.

Superbloom

From June 2022

In spring, over 20 million seeds will be planted in The Tower of London's moat. The Queen's interests in the environment, conservation and the natural world are well-documented so it is a fitting tribute that the moat, which has been drained since the 19th Century, will now form a natural oasis on the City of London's fringe. The plants have been specifically chosen to appeal to pollinating species and form a colourful, vibrant field of flowers that will fill the moat at the peak of the Jubilee celebrations. Visitors can wander along a weaving path into the centre of the flowers whilst listening to a specially commissioned sound installation until September 2022, after which, Superbloom will provide nature with a permanent home in the city and will become a lasting legacy of the Platinum Jubilee.

Visit the Crown Jewels

Open every day

With pieces dating back to medieval times, the Crown Jewels are some of the most sacred and ceremonial objects in the world. The jewels, including St Edward's Crown, which is worn only at Coronations, and the Imperial State Crown, which is worn for the State Opening of Parliament, are symbols of the Monarch's authority and the UK state as a whole. 

For over 600 years, the Crown Jewels have been kept securely at the Tower of London where viewing them is included within the admission price.

Visit St Paul's Cathedral new exhibition

25 May to mid-December 2022

St Paul’s, the Monarch and the Changing World explores the grand ceremonial occasions held at the Cathedral to commemorate the Royal Jubilees of four British monarchs: George III, Victoria, George V and Elizabeth II.

These Jubilee celebrations weave a thread of continuity through the social, political and technological changes in Britain over the past 200 years, and this fascinating exhibition introduces each monarch, their world, and the important part St Paul’s played in them all.

Access to the exhibition is free with sightseeing admission.

Bankside Open Spaces Festival

3 June

Bankside Open Spaces Festival is a celebration of open spaces and the community who loves them. Make the most of the Queen’s Jubilee Bank Holiday with a free community street party. They'll be welcoming performers young and old, community groups, artists, sports coaches, musicians, singers, dancers, and pampered pooches of all sizes!

A Right Royal Knees Up

Sunday 5 June

One of three London areas chosen to host the Queen’s Baton Relay for this historic celebration, the Royal Docks community has risen to the occasion, creating an exciting trail for the Batonbearers that celebrates the area and its people, including fantastic dancers, a 25-boat flotilla, footballers, sculptors, painters, rowers, pram racers and musicians.
