2006 has seen the expansion of our services we are now running more services to Woolwich Royal Arsenal during the week and have also started weekend and bank holiday services to Woolwich Royal Arsenal as well.
In September 2006 AEG Europe acquired a majority stake in Thames Clippers and invested in additional river services to coincide with the opening of the O2 in July 2007. The investment included the purchase of 6 new boats which will allow Thames Clipper to offer an significant increase in the frequency of our service across current and new routes including a dedicated O2 service. The O2 service will run every 15 minutes from Central London to the O2 via a number of piers TBC and will take approx. 40 minutes.
Thames Clippers are taking delivery of the new boats next year (4 in early May and 2 in late September). The basic design has been taken from our flagship the Hurricane Clipper. The boats are being built by BSC Marine Group Australia under a design licence by AIMTEK Australia. Each vessel will have the capacity to carry 220 passengers in extreme comfort and luxury.
